I reached out to Masha Lou Photography to capture my surprise proposal to my partner in Central Park and we couldn't be happier with how it has turned out. They were responsive and helpful in narrowing down where in Central Park to do the proposal, and our photographer on the day (Yana) was easy to coordinate with so that our special moment was captured organically. The photos after the proposal itself were also excellent.

I figured New York would be a great place for my proposal and wondered what type of photography services were out there. Her site is impressive, easy to navigate, and she is very responsive and extremely helpful. I had some ideas on spots, but Masha also had the insights and suggestions of her own to make sure my decision was rock solid and the absolute best experience. And it was absolutely that. I was worried about the rainstorms that were bearing down on New York ruining the moment, but it turned out to be perfect even in the rain. I was testing her ahead of time with some panic and she even had back-up plans for me that morning in case the rain was super severe. But it was light to moderate that morning and Mira was a trooper. She hid until it was game time. Once the eye contact was made I knew my moment was secured. She then hung around for the next hour in the rain with us and captured so many more moments for us. As usual through the process Masha was responsive and quick. And let me tell you the pictures Mira captured were stunning. So beautiful. I would highly recommend Masha for anyone out there like me who knows little to nothing about New York but just had an idea for a perfect moment that Masha make happen. We celebrated our 20th anniversary at the Central Park Boathouse. After seamless planning with Masha, Yana became our photographer for the event. She was punctual, pleasant, professional, and so talented. She worked wonderfully with everyone—from the wedding party to guests of all ages—throughout the entire day. She captured every special moment and took portraits of each guest so we could share them as party favors. During and after the event, my husband and I received rave reviews from our guests about Yana's professionalism and how comfortable she made everyone feel in front of the camera.

When we received the photos, we were in awe of the impeccable images of our guests, ourselves, and all the special details of the day. Masha asked us to select 20 images for editing, but we honestly couldn't pick—they were already fantastic as is! What services do you offer family photography?

I offer professional photography services designed to capture your family’s unique bond and create lasting memories. Services include group portraits, candid moments, and individual shots in beautiful and meaningful locations around NYC.

How long does a typical photo session last?

A standard family session lasts about 1 hour, giving us plenty of time to capture a variety of poses and moments in one or two nearby locations. If you’d like to explore more locations or include additional setups, the session can be extended to 2 or 3 hours.

What are your rates for a family photo shoot?

My hourly rate is $450 for family photo shoots. 2+ hours are discounted $50 for each additional hour. This includes a relaxed session with optional outfit changes and a curated selection of the best photos to treasure.

Can we shoot at multiple locations?

Yes, we can arrange to shoot at multiple locations if they are within a reasonable distance from each other. Please note that traveling between locations may count towards the session time.

How many photos do I receive, and am I able to choose them?

You will receive 10+ professionally edited photos depending on the package. I provide all photos from the session as well which is very uncommon in New York City. I will provide a gallery of images from which you can choose your favorites.

What should I wear for my photo shoot?

I recommend coordinating colors rather than matching exactly—think complementary tones or soft neutrals for a timeless feel. Avoid busy patterns or large logos, as they can distract from the focus of the photos. Layers and textures photograph beautifully, so feel free to add accessories like scarves or cardigans. Most importantly, wear something comfortable that makes you feel confident—you want your family’s connection to shine through

How do I prepare for my photo session?

Preparing for your family photoshoot is simple! Start by ensuring everyone is well-rested and fed, as happy moods make for the best photos. Plan outfits ahead of time and try them on to ensure everyone feels comfortable. If your session involves kids, bring along a favorite toy or snack to keep them engaged. Think about any special items you’d like included, like a blanket for sitting shots or meaningful props. Lastly, relax and come ready to enjoy the experience—I’ll guide you through the rest

What happens if the weather is bad on the day of our outdoor shoot?

If the weather is inclement, we can reschedule to the next available date or choose an indoor location that suits your style.

Do you offer retouching services?

Yes, basic retouching such as color correction, light blemish removal, and brightness adjustments are included. More detailed retouching can be done upon request and may incur an additional fee.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 48 hours before your session to avoid a cancellation fee. The deposit is non-refundable but can be applied to a rescheduled session within 3 months.
