Yes! If you’re eloping with just the two of you, your photographer can act as your witness at no additional cost. Just let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.
Yes! New York City welcomes couples from across the country and around the world. You do not need to be a New York or NYC resident to get married here.
You’ll still need to follow New York’s marriage license requirements and complete the necessary steps to make your marriage legal. Our elopement collections focus on photography, so couples are responsible for arranging their marriage license, officiant, and any other legal requirements.
Here’s how to get legally married in NYC:
Apply online for your marriage license through the City Clerk’s website.
Schedule an appointment for either an in-person visit or virtual license appointment (you both must be physically in NYC during the virtual appointment).
Bring:
- A valid photo ID
- Payment ($35 via credit card or money order)
- Your appointment confirmation
- Your online application confirmation number
Once issued, your license is valid for 60 days — but your ceremony must happen at least 24 hours after it’s issued.
Absolutely! While our elopement collections focus on photography, we’re happy to connect you with trusted professionals who can help bring the rest of your plans together.
We can provide recommendations for hair and makeup artists, florists, and other vendors we love working with. From there, you can connect with them directly to arrange availability, pricing, and all the details for your day.
NYC has endless possibilities, and the best locations will depend on how much coverage you choose and the look you want for your day.
For a 1-hour elopement, staying around City Hall is a great option. We can capture your ceremony and explore the surrounding streets for portraits without spending valuable time traveling.
With 2 hours, we have more flexibility to venture to a nearby neighborhood like SoHo or DUMBO, giving you a beautiful mix of ceremony moments, classic NYC streets, and iconic city views.
With 3 hours, we can build a more complete elopement route and incorporate several locations throughout the city. Central Park, the New York Public Library, DUMBO, SoHo, and other favorite NYC locations can all be worked into your plans depending on your ceremony location and timing.
We’re happy to help you choose locations and create a route that makes the most of your photography time, while giving you plenty of variety without making the day feel rushed.
Absolutely! You’re welcome to include friends and family in your elopement. Guest fees vary depending on the size of your group, so just let us know how many people you’re planning to have and we’ll confirm the pricing for you.
For larger celebrations or micro-weddings, reach out with a few details about your plans and we’ll recommend the coverage and pricing that best fits your day.

Our style is natural, romantic, and timeless, with a mix of candid moments and thoughtfully guided portraits. We’ll give you direction when you need it, while leaving plenty of space for the genuine interactions and emotions that make your elopement feel like you.

We understand that plans can change. Your $125 deposit is non-refundable and reserves your date and time.
If you need to reschedule, just let us know as soon as possible:
More than 3 days before your session: We can move your session to a new date at no additional cost.
1–3 days before your session: A new $125 deposit is required to reschedule.
Within 24 hours: A new $125 deposit and a $100 rescheduling fee are required.
If an emergency comes up, please reach out as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to work with you.
We keep a close eye on the weather leading up to your elopement. If rain or severe weather is expected, we can adjust the timing when availability allows, choose a covered or indoor alternative, or reschedule for another date.
NYC weather can change quickly, so we typically recommend waiting until closer to your session before making any final decisions. Our goal is to find the best option for your day while still creating beautiful photographs, rain or shine.
What is an elopement?
An elopement is an intimate, intentional way to get married without the expectations of a traditional wedding. It might be just the two of you, or you may choose to celebrate with a small group of your closest friends and family.
Elopements can be beautifully simple or thoughtfully planned months in advance. You can exchange vows at the Manhattan Marriage Bureau, hire an officiant for a ceremony in Central Park, celebrate along the Brooklyn waterfront, or create an afternoon that takes you through several of your favorite places in the city.
There’s no single way to elope in NYC. That freedom is part of what makes it so special.
How to elope in NYC
1. Get your marriage license
- Apply through Project Cupid.
- Schedule an appointment (both in-person and virtual available).
- You must wait 24 hours after receiving your license to legally marry.
- Bring valid ID and pay the $35 fee by credit card or money order.
2. Decide where to get married
Ceremony managed by the city:
- City Hall (141 Worth St): Quick and iconic.
Choose your own location and hire a registered officiant.
- Outside City Hall
- Central Park (Bethesda Terrace, Bow Bridge, Wagner Cove)
- Brooklyn Bridge Park or Dumbo
3. Plan the day
- Choose a photographer (hi!)
- Decide if you want hair, makeup, bouquet, or videography.
- Plan your outfits, timeline, and where you want photos taken.

City Hall Elopement
A City Hall elopement is perfect for couples who want something simple, iconic, and unmistakably New York. The ceremony is short, leaving plenty of time to celebrate and take photos around Lower Manhattan afterward.
Best for: Couples who want an easy, classic NYC ceremony with minimal planning.
Outdoor Elopement
An outdoor elopement gives you much more freedom to personalize your ceremony. You can choose your location, write your own vows, invite loved ones, and build the experience around what matters most to you.
You’ll need to arrange your own officiant, and some locations may require permits or extra planning, but you’ll have far more flexibility to create a ceremony that feels completely personal.
Best for: Couples who want a more customized ceremony and the freedom to choose their setting, vows, and overall experience.
